Delhi has a wide diaspora of people, each with his or her unique characteristics. But on closer scrutiny, one can find some similarities in their actions. I have tried to categorize these individuals according to their specific antics:
- “Jaanta hai mera baap kaun hai?”
The local goonda v/s Viserys Targaryen (Game Of Thrones):
Arrogant and reckless. They keep getting into trouble and try to use their family name to get out of a mess. But it doesn’t work. Apparently their father is a big hot shot who no one cares about now.
- “Mine! Mine! Mine!”
Auto Drivers v/s The Seagulls (Finding Nemo):
Have you ever gotten off at a metro station and noticed all the auto drivers and rickshaw pullers just flocked together, trying to find food – sorry, sorryy, I meant passengers?
- “Zzzzzzzzzzz…”
Politicians v/s Snorlax (Pokemon):
Asleep most of the time. Wake up either when elections are nearby or they are a part of the opposition. I wish we had a PokeFlute…
P.S: Kumbhakaran was a major contender as well. But Snorlax felt just right.
- “You shall not pass!”
Teachers v/s Gandalf (Lord Of The Rings):
Every maths teacher feels like an incarnation of Gandalf to her students each time they hold her dreaded paper in their hands.
- “I wants it!”
The toddler v/s Gollum (Lord Of The Rings):
Ever seen that kid in the metro who won’t let go of the handhold, his mother’s dupatta, your phone and what not once he lays his hands on it? And will cry like a banshee once it slips from their hands?
- “That’s my spot!”
The average Delhiite v/s Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory):
Finding an empty seat in the metro or a bus can be a rarity during peak hours. So when this Delhite scouting for one actually finds it, you can imagine that he will not let go. And he is not the only one. All Sheldons in a 2km radius suddenly emerge to vie for that seat. And it can get pretty ugly too.
And if by chance you get that seat, you get this look the entire journey.
