WhatsApp is constantly updating and making it even more essential and difficult to leave. With each new update, one more problem or issue is being solved making the app something of a need less than just another messaging app.
Remember in a previous article I mentioned that WhatsApp obviously loved Android users more than iOS users, well perhaps finally the WhatsApp team is showing some love to the iOS users.
Apparently, as of today, iOS users can update their WhatsApp to the latest version 2.17.81 which will allow users to play their YouTube videos inside the app itself.
The update as noticed by WaBetaInfo, the AppStore relays the new update as “When you receive a link to a YouTube video, you can now play it right within WhatsApp. With picture-in-picture, you can also keep watching the video while you navigate to another chat”.
What Is Up With All The Updates?
Not long ago, the worldwide messaging app introduced the ‘delete message’ feature that will remove your message from both your device and the receivers’ too. The reaction was mixed, however, it was still something big in terms of an update.
Now, WhatsApp has introduced a feature that no longer makes one exit the WhatsApp app and go to the YouTube one to watch a video.
Apart from that, as per news sources, WhatsApp is also planning to make recording longer voice messages easier by swiping up while recording, this will lock the recording and you can keep recording without having to keep the ‘record’ button pressed.
Along with this, WhatsApp is also working on an update that will allow one to switch from audio to video call without dropping it, muting the video and rejecting the switch if one wants to.
However, one thing to keep in mind for the YouTube feature would that as of now it is disabled but will soon be enabled from the servers itself.
Why Are These Updates So Important?
Currently, WhatsApp has a pretty decent amount of users in India, almost about 200 million, and across the world, the number would be around 1.2 billion.
It is extremely important that WhatsApp keep updating and renewing or improving its features to make the app almost impossible to live without.
One could compare WhatsApp to being the Google of messaging apps since it is almost a given that any phone owning person will have this app.
Their decision to include businesses and more into this platform only further increases its relevancy.
