There is no doubt that artificial intelligence is going to and actually has already started to affect the job sector.

Companies are very quickly being bought into the glittery world of AI that according to them lets them produce more without having to deal with pesky ‘human’ employees and all the problems and issues they bring with them.

More and more jobs are having AI being incorporated in them or sectors coming up needing AI expert employees itself. But it seems that while AI is affecting the job market, it might affect women employees more than male employees as per a report.

What Does This Report Say?

According to a new report by the McKinsey Global Institute, it is being said that women are going to be losing more jobs compared to men due to increasing artificial intelligence and automation in the job sector.

The report claims that “Women are heavily represented in office support and customer service, which could shrink by about 3.7 million and 2.0 million jobs, respectively, by 2030.”

It also believes that around eight in ten women will be forced to either move companies or entirely lose their job to AI and automation.

One reason for this is because it is said that the sectors most negatively impacted by automation are food services, customer service and sales, and office support all of which have a high number of women employees.

AI Affect Jobs

The study also stated that almost 12 million workers in the US are going to be changing their jobs by 2030.

The study also cautions that “Black and Hispanic workers, workers without college degrees, and the youngest and oldest workers” are also ones that will have to find new jobs by 2030.

The study stated that “We see generative AI enhancing the way STEM, creative, and business and legal professionals work rather than eliminating a significant number of jobs outright.” But all these sectors are male-dominated, along with that the more manual field sector, with jobs that cannot be automated easily while women make up a very small part of them.
