October 4 is National Vodka Day: Celebrate with these fall recipes

-

In honor of National Vodka Day on Sunday, October 4, people worldwide are getting ready to celebrate the spirit labeled ‘the drink that brought the world together over time.’ Since the earliest recorded distillation in Russia during the 14th century, vodka has been shared around the world and included in many of our favorite drink recipes. In the U.S., vodka as a standard drink of choice grew extensively across the country after World War II.

As we celebrate National Vodka Day this year, here are a few new recipes to help you keep warm as the winter season approaches. Using gluten-free Vavoom Vodka, we’ve tested and enjoyed these five fall-inspired vodka recipes.

PUMPKIN WHITE RUSSIAN

  • 1 oz pumpkin spice Kahlua
  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz heavy cream

Instructions

Combine Kahlua, vodka, and cream into glass over ice. Stir lightly.

This warm and fuzzy white russian will give you a feeling of coziness in the cold autumn breezes, with a strong and sweet taste of pumpkin with the spicy kick, this drink is the perfect drink for sitting by the fire and enjoying a warm night in.

CARAMEL APPLE MULE

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Vodka
  • .5 oz caramel
  • 1 oz apple cider
  • Ginger beer, to top

Instructions

Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain into a wooden mug over ice, top with ginger beer. Garnish with apple fan.

With the strong taste of apple and ginger, this mule is a light and refreshing drink for a walk through the park or just a nice lunch on a sunny fall afternoon. With a taste profile built for those drawn to sweeter flavors, this drink will make you feel like you’re walking down a picturesque downtown getting the scent of caramel apples from a passing confectionary. Best served in a copper cup.

APPLE HINNY

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz fresh green apple juice (Granny Smith recommended)
  • .5 oz lime juice
  • Ginger beer tp top

Instructions

Combine and serve over ice. Garnish with apple fan.

An extremely light and refreshing drink, perfect for a nice and relaxing walk. With a more tart profile, this drink is perfect for those with less of a pension for the sweet drinks and has the distinct tartness of granny smith apples. Giving you the feeling of a crisp cool breeze through a nice apple orchard on a cool fall day.

FIGA

Ingredients

  • 12 oz vodka*
  • 6 oz earl grey tea
  • 9 oz fresh tangerine juice
  • Fresh fig wedges

Instructions

Combine vodka, tea, and tangerine juice and refrigerate. To serve, stir well and pour over ice into rocks glasses. Garnish with a fig wedge.

Unlike the rest of the drinks on this list, the Figa is a bit of an oddball. With strong notes of fig and earl grey mixing with the hint of tangerine, this drink acts as an escape. Light and tropical, transporting you from the cold autumn afternoon to a sunny day on the beach with your feet in the sand.

VANILLA VODKA CHAI TEA

What you need:

  • 4 Chai tea bags
  • 2 oz. vanilla vodka
  • ¾ oz. amaretto liqueur
  • ½ oz. simple sugar
  • ½ oz. half-and-half

How to make it:

Bring 3 cups water to a boil and steep 4 Chai tea bags for 2 to 4 minutes (following the directions on the box). Allow to cool and refrigerate until ready to use (3 cups of tea will yield 4 drinks). In a cocktail shaker or tall glass, combine all ingredients and shake or stir generously (shaking will froth up the half-and-half and help release the infused flavor in the spirits). Fill glass with ice and pour drink over ice. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or two.

Another sweet player on this list, this drink is definitely a sense of warmth in the cold. Filling you with that burning sensation Vodka is known for all the while giving strong tastes of cinnamon and vanilla that will make you feel like you’re cozy on the couch wrapped up in a blanket watching TV on a lazy afternoon. The perfect drink for vanilla fans who like a little bit of a kick to their drinks.
