As An Indian, I’d Like To Apologize To Evan Spiegel, Sonu Sood & Miranda Kerr For Our Stupidity

Let's analyze what led to this onslaught of hate comments against Evan Spiegel and how this led to a chain reaction leading to a barrage of personal attacks, WHICH HIGHLIGHTED OUR STUPIDITY.

With the war raging against Evan Spiegel of Snapchat and how his comments have enraged our inner misguided patriot, let me tell you that you’re a bunch of idiots if you’re criticizing him.

Firstly, let’s analyze what led to this onslaught of hate comments against Evan Spiegel and how this led to a chain reaction to other celebrities and then how it became a barrage of personal attacks, WHICH HIGHLIGHTED OUR STUPIDITY.

I’m gonna walk you step by step in this article. Fasten your metaphorical seat-belts.

First things first: We read on the news that Evan Spiegel, the CEO of Snapchat said that India is poor and he wouldn’t look to expand his app there and in Spain. YES. HE REFERRED TO SPAIN AS A POOR COUNTRY AS WELL BUT DO YOU SEE AN OUTRAGE IN SPAIN?

Big mistake, dude. Big mistake.

And even if your inner “desh-bhakt” got angry because your ego can’t handle even a pinch of conflicting opinion, you take it to social media to express your stinking views for which I feel you need a damn reality check.

Let’s look at what happened and how we responded:

A. Statistics as to how 4 million people in India use Snapchat and Evan Spiegel is stupid. Okay, fine.

B. Let’s uninstall Snapchat. Okay, cool.

And finally highlighting what the typical smart-ass Indian thought of:

Let’s give a 1-star rating to SNAPDEAL BECAUSE IT HAS THE WORD “SNAP” IN IT, LET’S BELIEVE THE NEWS in which the controversial statement was said by an EX EMPLOYEE OF SNAPCHAT AND NOT EVAN SPIEGEL HIMSELF AND LET’S BASH MIRANDA KERR FOR BEING SPIEGEL’S GIRLFRIEND.

And that, kids.. is why Indians are stupid and will continue to be.

A rare image of Miranda Kerr wondering about whatever she did to offend Indians.

A 3-fold fact check is clear enough to tell me that we can’t handle a different opinion, we can’t even criticize the correct personality involved in the controversy and EVEN IF WE DO, we become monsters consumed by hate and false patriotism and attack the people who are associated with that celebrity.

Yup. We are social media monsters.

Almost none of us took the time to see why Spiegel referred to our country as poor, in which sense did he refer to us as poor and the basic that in a population of over a billion, 4 million people using a particular app isn’t really an amazing statistic for the owner of that app.

We further took it to hate comments against Miranda Kerr who isn’t even a part of the feud and we lashed her Instagram profile. Such classy people, damn!

Now, coming to the whole Sonu Nigam thing.

I mean, honestly.

WHAT DO MOST INDIANS GET HIGH ON BEFORE TALKING SHIT ON TWITTER ABOUT A CELEBRITY?

We are literally that entrenched with our false sense of patriotism that we are hating on a guy who simply wanted a noise free environment and a good night’s sleep.

If you don’t believe me, read this article here: Shut Your Mouth! Sonu Nigam Is 100% Correct

Should’ve kept quiet, man.

After you satiate the thirst of your inner misguided patriot, use a little logic.

Sonu Nigam talked about not just one religion, firstly. And he highlighted the issue of Azaan because it is HIS LOCALIZED PROBLEM.

Secondly, people bashed him because that’s obvious.

Thirdly, we bashed the wrong guy AGAIN. Talking about SONU NIGAM LEAD US TO TALKING ABOUT SONU SOOD, THE ACTOR.

I mean.. Like, wow. I’m at a loss of words.

I won’t be dwelling into the technicalities of the matter that what kind of tweets were made against Sonu Sood but I have an important message for people :

Folks, we’re an intolerant bunch. Like it or not. We read things and give knee-jerk responses without reading the main part of the news and analyzing it. We find ourselves to be superior by bringing down people, just like some dumb as shit people feel right now after boycotting Snapchat and telling how amazing they feel after uninstalling the app. Tell me something? Do you think this paints an effective image? You think your dumbass antics have made a difference? They haven’t done jack squat, you ignorant keyboard hero.

Stop being mean to people, folks. Once in your life, respect a conflicting opinion.

And on that note, goes my apology to Evan Spiegel, Miranda Kerr, the CEO of Snapdeal, Sonu Sood and Sonu Nigam.

Here’s hoping this article makes a difference.

And you’re right about the people being inherently opinionated regarding everything. But even if they are, they should definitely analyze the issue before presenting their opinion.

Once again, thank you for your feedback.
