Ardh-Kumbh Mela 2019 started today with the holy dip in the river Ganga. Prayagraj (former name Allahabad) is all set to host the largest religious festival in the world.
Today was the day when all the 13 “akharas” did the “Shahi- Snan” on the occasion of ‘Makar Sankranti’. This marked the official start of Prayagraj Kumbh which would end on 4th March with the “Shahi- Snan” on the occasion of “Maha Shivratri”.
With an expected footfall of 12 crore people from India and abroad, the Kumbh Mela is a mega festival.
With the first “Shahi- Snan”, Twitter got flooded with pictures from Prayagraj showcasing the beauty and vastness of this religious gathering.
