The International Management Institute, New Delhi established in 1981 was the first corporate sponsored business school in India. Located in the Qutab Institutional Area in New Delhi, IMI has been at the forefront in training and nurturing young professionals for the business world.

Along with the other professional PGDM courses, the institute has formed long-term linkages with reputable management institutions throughout Europe and Asia.

The institute has been a forerunner in organizing a number of events that have received acclaim from all over the country. The International Relations and Executive Education Committee (IREC) organizes its flagship event the IMI MUN under the aegis of the IMI name and all the goodwill that it brings with it.

The IREC is one of the illustrious student bodies of IMI, New Delhi. While IMI MUN is the flagship event of the committee, IREC also serves as a link between the Post-Graduate batches and the executive PGDM batch at the campus.

The committee comes out with a set of publications on a weekly basis that includes a blog [The Global Pen], a comic strip and the newest edition – a short video blog aptly named The Frontline.

IMI MUN

The committee has a hectic schedule throughout the calendar and receives batches of foreign students under various programs such as ITEC [Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme] and delegations from Japan.

IMI MUN is one such event and it has had four successful editions in the past with the number of delegates and sponsors increasing year on year. The fourth edition boasted 130 delegates and a total footfall of 1200 with some sponsors.

IMI MUN involves the depiction of bodies that constitute the United Nations Organisation. All the editions of IMI MUN have had four committees that are modeled after the major bodies of UNO.

The fifth and the most recent edition selected to organize the World Health Organisation, World Trade Organisation, United Nations Security Council and a Continuous Crisis Committee that was a brave new step in itself.

The event began with the inaugural ceremony, which was graced by Mr. T.P Sreenivasan, former Ambassador of India and Prof. Mamta Mohapatra, the Dean IREC.

The delegates were expertly shepherded by the chairpersons and rapporteurs through the initial sessions as they participated in GSLs (General Speakers’ List) and requested for moderated and unmoderated caucuses which allow a delegate to discuss and invite other countries to put forth their views on a specific issue.

The discussions throughout the two days were enlightening and they were carefully funneled into a broad-based consensus that was well reflected in the resolution document. Following this, the Executive Boards declared the Best Delegate, High Commendation and Special Mention award winners.

The winners won cash prizes and goodies worth one lakh rupees.

An event of the scale of IMI MUN requires close cooperation and coordination from a host of student bodies that work to do justice to the brand name of our institute and maintain its prestigious position atop the pyramid of private management institutions in the country.

The team of IMI MUN is grateful to their amazing sponsors, to the management of their institution for being a constant source of guidance and fellow students in other bodies who made it possible for them to organize the MUN in a year where most of the routine processes have been hampered by the pandemic.

ED is proud to be their blog partner.
