Idea! Makes It Possible For Girls To Recharge Their Phone Without Giving Their Number (video)

By Shubhani Syal

On International Women’s Day, Idea Cellular rolled out a great facility for its women customers. This facility can be availed by sending “Code” to 55515 to get a one-time password. You can privately recharge your number or pay your bills by quoting this OTP in place of your number.

Already available in 14 circles, this facility will be available pan-India by the end of the month. This was first rolled out in August 2016 in Kerala but will now be able to everyone soon.

This is a great initiative for protection of women and ensuring their privacy. This could help reduce the number of sleazy calls all women receive which is not only irritating but can also be unsafe.

Now that both Idea and Vodafone has announced to roll such facilities, let’s hope this step is replicated by all providers all through India. It would be better if people just stopped invading your privacy, but meanwhile, a private recharge seems like it will be helpful.

As an Idea customer, I already feel safer just knowing that my cellular provider cares about my safety. So kudos, Idea and Vodafone, this was needed!
