“I Wish It Was Banned Instead” Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Review

-

After weeks of struggle and rounds of twitter fights, Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is successfully released in theatres. KJo had to do lots of effort to get the movie release. Had he put this much effort in making the movie, it would still have been a bag full of disappointments.

Another movie by Dharma Productions which gave its viewers a list of tourist destinations and a mind full of crap that Dard Se Hi Music Nikalta Hai. This movie was Rockstar Part 2 but with no India and no plot.

ADHM feels more like a conglomerate of Ye Jawani Hai Diwani, Rockstar, Anjana Anjani and Tamasha. All of them have Ranbir Kapoor as lead. And all of them have Ranbir crying and weeping.

(Spoiler Alert! Proceed at your own risk)

Storyline a.k.a Blurred line

The story revolves around Ayan (Ranbir) and Aliza’s (Anushka) love-cum-best-friend story. Fawad and Aish were portrayed as a medium to bring out Ranbir and Anushka’s love *cough* best friendship. The story lost plot in the first half only, where Anushka and Ranbir seemed to be everyone’s couple goals but Anushka had other plans. As an Indian, it was her duty to friendzone a guy who cares, loves and adores her. She died of cancer and Ranbir died of friendzone and Urdu.

Dialogues

My ticket said ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (Hindi)’ but I soon realized that the printing machine was corrupt. The movie was in Urdu. The script was written by Mirza Ghalib and Kumar Vishwas together.

Everybody seemed to have a perfect and befitting reply/comeback to every nonsensical, random and crazy statement made by someone.

Tum abhi mere baare mey kuch jaante nhi”

“Kal raat bahut kuch jaan gya”

“Usse jaan na nhi, behek jaana kehte hai”

Surprises

Apart from no story, there were other surprises too. Such as Alia Bhatt, as mystery friend of Anushka, who appeared out of nowhere and started DJing. Her choice of playing a Hindi song in an English disco was very well received by the crowd that synced their steps with that of the lead characters in no time. Shah Rukh Khan played the role of Aishwarya’s ex-husband who still loved his wife but did not want to stay with her because (in his words) Ek tarfa Mohabbat ki taakat hi kuch or hoti hai.

Talking of surprises, Anushka Sharma died of cancer but before dying she had a lot of fun exactly the way how final-stage cancer patients all around the world do. Also, unlike chemotherapy undergone patients, she still had her eyebrows on point and never felt weakness.

Good things?

The only good thing about this movie was its songs.

Aishwarya Rai’s hotness and Anushka Sharma’s beauty could also be counted.

Verdict

I regret tweeting in favour of ADHM when the controversy was out there. I regret that I fought with my friends against ADHM ban. Karan Johar should pay 5 crores to every person who watched this. For the first time in my life, I support Raj Thakrey.

Jokes apart, this movie deserves 2 stars.
