There is no shortage of safety issues that women still face in India. A recent one to come up now is that of a voyeuristic Instagram account where a, till yet, anonymous user has been posting photos and videos of women travelling on the Bengaluru Namma Metro trains without their consent.
Netizens have been steadily growing enraged over this account, flagging and reporting it for violating the dignity and privacy of these women. In recent news, the Bengaluru Police have filed an FIR against the owner of the Instagram account.
What Is This Instagram Account?
An Instagram account called Bangalore Metro Clicks (@metro_chicks) has come under scrutiny after it was reported to have posted at least 14 videos of women travelling in the Namma Metro in Bengaluru. The extremely disturbing thing, apart from the account name itself, is that these videos were all taken without the consent or permission of the women. Furthermore, the videos had captions like “finding beautiful girls on Namma Metro” or “Girls at 2 pm in Bangalore Metro,” with some of them even giving a rating to the women.
The account was called out on various social media platforms, with many people tagging the Bengaluru Police to take action against the account owner and catch the “pervert.”
X/Twitter user That Nair Guy (@surajv369) wrote, “Hello @BlrCityPolice @CPBlr, There is a pervert travelling in @OfficialBMRCL Bengaluru metro trains and capturing videos of women secretly and sharing on Instagram. Please find him and punish him!!” along with sharing the link to the Instagram page.
They also commented, “This is very creepy and dangerous for all women travellers. Please amplify so that he is punished soon.”
Others also joined in, with Adarsh Kharvi (@Adarshkharvi1) tagging the Bengaluru Police and writing, “Please punish whoever is handling this account,” while user Abhay Chaturvedi (@AbhayLearner) wrote, “This b*****d should immediately be put behind bars.”
Another asserted, “All their followers also need to be exposed & complaints filed.”

Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan also called out the account in a Twitter post, writing, “An Instagram account is secretly filming women on Namma Metro, and shockingly, 5,000 people are following it. It’s a blatant violation of privacy and dignity, not just creepy but a serious crime. @BlrCityPolice, take immediate action.”
Another shocking thing netizens noticed was the number of followers on this creepy and disgusting account. It has almost 5,605 followers and even crossed the 6,000 number at one point. The Telegram channel it advertised had 1,188 subscribers.
However, currently, all the posts have been deleted from the Instagram page, and the Telegram channel has been deactivated. Now, the Bengaluru Police has registered an FIR against the owner of the account.
As per reports, the FIR states, “Upon further examination of the account, it was found that metro_chicks had uploaded a total of 14 videos, which appear to violate the dignity of women. The Telegram channel was taken down, and all Instagram posts were deleted.”
Police commissioner B Dayananda, speaking with Moneycontrol, also said, “A case has been registered at Banashankari Police Station. The accused will be traced and arrested.”
The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL)’s chief public relations officer, BL Yashavanth Chavan, commented on this issue, saying, “We have come across an account on Instagram and Telegram where a user has posted pictures of women passengers without their consent. We will soon register a police complaint against the user. A cyber complaint will also be filed to remove the account. We will not tolerate anything that compromises the safety of our passengers.”
