FOMO MODELS turns over £1 million pounds in its first year of trading

-

Meet Robert Wilson! Model Scout and Agent, Dog Owner, and Founder of FOMO Models. He’s scouted and manages some of the biggest supermodels in Europe and all over the world. Robert Wilson is always on the lookout for the next potential star, as he’s developed a great eye being a model scout, but he’s even better at developing them under FOMO Models. We were very excited to be able to get in touch with him featuring a Q&A below!

  • What was life like for you growing up? And how has it played a part in who you are today?

Dad was often getting into trouble with the police, there was a sense of uncertainty and excitement. My mum was very loving but was also caught up in it all. Growing up around so much chaos made me quite, dramatic, rebellious, resilient and independent. I really wanted to succeed and create a better life for myself and my family.

  • What age did you lose both of your parents?

Dad I was 12, mum 24.

  • How did you cope with balancing school with your home life?

I had so much energy I found it hard to focus at school.

  • What age did you drop out of Rutlish and why?

I was getting bullied for being gay and I was still grievng for my dad so I left when I was 15 and went to the Brits stage school for something more fun. Later I could see my peer group Amy Winehouse, Adele, Leyona Lewis do so well, and it inspired me  to dream big. I also wanted to prove the bullies wrong.

  • Why did you want to start your own business? How long has your business been running for?

I had a lot of freedom growing up so when it came to working for someone, telling me what to do, I found it very restrictive.  To suit my personality, I needed a job where I feel I’m in control, is fast paced and brings me in contact with a lot of people. After walking out of so many jobs I started my business 4 years ago and haven’t looked back since. I used to dream about running my own model agency!

  • What do you like about your job the most?

Changing the lives of young people for the better.

I discovered a girl who was cleaning and she is now featuring in the new Gucci campaign. It’s lovely to see my models buy property through this line of work.

i also go on scout trips to small villages and towns where I look for the next star.

the industry is glamorous and fun. once minute you might be booking a model on on huge job the next you might be rubbing shoulders with Kate Moss or Kendal Jenner at an event, its never the same day. Also internationally travelling when we aren’t on a lock down. Our models get booked abroad which means we have to sometimes go with them.

  • Why is your role so important to you and has your childhood played a part in wanting to help young people thrive?

I struggled to fit in as a kid and make my way in the world, i was always extra and loved fashion and wacky hairs doos ( i used to work in a hairdresser whilst i was at school to fund my buying) I would bunk off school and hang out at the local sunbed shop  have the most hideous orange tan and tell people in my school my mum had won the lottery and brought a house in south of france that’s why i was so tanned. my little head really did take me to fantasy land.

Now i turn my fantasy into reality and we are looking at buying a holiday home in South of France.

I love being able to help people and see them succeed, i’ve discovered models and have given them a whole new life changing career.

it makes me feel so proud when we see our models in glossy magazines or on bill boards or even TV commercials.

  • A bit of background information about the agency and when your model search will take place and what you are looking for ( ages, personality etc) – this may work better as a follow up.

We are launching a model search in Merton London where we will be hosting a covid safe audition open call to anyone ages from 14 years – 24years.

It will be open to big and tall and all disabilities are welcomed. There’s a market for everyone! FOMO MODELS is all about diversity and inclusion of every ethic background.

Robert Wilson’s Instagram is @robwilsonscout and his agency page is @fomomodels. He has also launched @fomorealcast which will open doors into the industry with so much new talent.
