Yeah, that is right. You can judge me all you want, or make fun, but Facebook is becoming lame now. Even Mark Zuckerberg felt it. I guess that is why he bought Whatsapp and Instagram, because probably even he was getting bored of Facebook.

#DeleteFacebook

Twitter erupted with #DeleteFacebook after Elon Musk, the very well-known billionaire innovator tweeted in a reply to Sacha Cohen, the actor from the Dictator. Cohen tweeted about how Facebook or in other words, one man – Mark has access to data of over 2.5 billion people, and that it should be regulated by governments instead of being controlled by one person.

I agree. If you have watched the documentary called “The Great Hack”, you know how much data Facebook and other social media platforms hoard. The documentary only revolved around how Cambridge Analytica, a political data analytics company played a major role in Trump’s victory and even in Brexit campaigns.

Here’s what Wikipedia says about Cambridge Analytica and Facebook. Please read carefully, word to word: The Facebook-Cambridge Analytica data scandal was a major political scandal in early 2018 when it was revealed that Cambridge Analytica had harvested personal data of millions of people’s Facebook profiles without their consent and used it for political advertising purposes.

This was about USA, but I’m certain India and other countries are not far behind in being a part of a social media simulation that Facebook has kept us in.

Why I Personally Don’t Like Facebook

Most of the people around me have experienced some kind of bullying or have had a bitter memory on Facebook. There is no limit to the number of fake profiles a person can have, and I have a problem with that.

Another reason why I think Facebook is now lame, is because Instagram has taken flight so well along with Whatsapp, that people hardly go to their Facebook profiles. I agree that if Facebook is actually deleted, or shut down, there will be several political campaigns, advertising agencies, and several organizations that will be adversely affected. Yes, a lot of people also will be affected, but how much? Anyone who has a Facebook profile has Whatsapp and Instagram too, and sometimes even Twitter.

If It Comes From Elon Musk, There’s A Thought Behind It

I absolutely disagree if someone says Elon Musk just says stuff like “Delete Facebook, it’s lame” out of fun. He does not. He is a man who hardly has time to call out a billionaire social media platform owner, because he’s building things which are actually useful for the future.

Moreover, if Musk says it’s lame, it probably is lame! Most people will just see how it was funny to call Facebook lame, but I see the reasoning behind it. Facebook was intended to help people connect and make this world feel like a smaller place to those who live far away. It was intended to socialize, and not become a social enemy by hoarding data and by manipulating people with the kind of content they see. Probably, there is no place for Facebook in the future.

If you disagree, I’d love to have a friendly debate. Please tell us about your thoughts in the comments below.
