The past few days have been extremely difficult for Indian authorities with the rapid and sudden increase of COVID-19 cases coming up.

On Monday, India registered 103,558 new daily COVID-19 cases, the biggest increase on a single day. This has now taken the total number of COVID-19 cases of the country to 12.59 million as per sources.

This has already resulted in several states and regions across India instilling lockdown-like restrictions such as night-curfew, shutting down gyms and public activities, reducing public movement and more in a bid to control the transfer of the disease.

However seeing all this, students who only ever have one thing on their mind are worried about exams being held in such an environment.

This led to several of them along with other people wanting the annual Board Examinations to be cancelled.

Why Is #Cancelboardexams2021 Trending?

Several people on 6th April decided to post on their Twitter the idea that the board exams should be cancelled considering how stressful the current situation is.

Students put forth their concerns over having to appear for an offline examination amidst this health crisis going on right now.

As per reports, the Class 10 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) are set to last from April 29 to May 20, 2021, while the Class 12 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) will be conducted from April 23 to May 21 2021 in an offline format in Maharashtra.

Apparently, some sources have said that the Maharashtra school education department might be thinking to postpone these examinations in light of the extreme rise of COVID-19 cases in the state that has also led to various restrictions being put on public movement.

One student Licypriya Kangujam posted on their Twitter that “When the Corona is at peak, asking millions of children to appear exam is unacceptable. I stand with the students. #CancelBoardExams2021 (sic).”

Not just that but even Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray commented on how the Class 10th and 12th offline examinations in Maharashtra should be cancelled.

He also stated how students are already experiencing “mental trauma” and that students from Classes 10th and 12th should just be promoted without any exams.
