Breakfast Babble: ED’s own little space on the interwebs where we gather to discuss ideas and get pumped up for the day. We judge things too. Sometimes. Always. Whatever, call it catharsis and join in people.

It’s the weekend after a very, very, very hectic week and I finally get to do something that I like and enjoy. I choose to stay at home rather than go out. Yes, I do know that I am in the “prime of my life” and that these are the “best years of my life” but hear me out.

It’s Inexpensive

Staying at home obviously costs a lot less than going out. Even if these are my prime years, I still live from stipend to stipend which does not afford me the luxury of going out every weekend and splurging on cafes and restaurants.

It’s Not Rushed

Staying at home does not make me a slave to a schedule. I can wake up when I want and take the day at my pace. I can watch a movie at 3 p.m. or at 3 a.m. I could do both! I could stop watching one movie, start watching another, and then circle back to the first one. The possibilities are endless.

It’s Casual

I don’t have to dress up. I can put on my ugliest but comfiest pair of pyjamas and relax without having to worry about being prim and proper. I do it enough during the week. I can put on a face pack and walk around the entire house. I dare you to do that in public.

It’s My Time

I get to spend time with myself. It’s important for me to be in touch with myself. I need to remind myself from time to time that I am doing my best and that I am where I need to be. It’s 2023. Mental health is important. Putting the self first is important.

I mention some valid points above and they have nothing to do with the fact my very limited number of friends have their own lives and it’s not possible to hangout often (or enough) (someone send me back to my school years please).
