While traditional learning methods and books hold tremendous potential to confer knowledge; however practical learning upholds the supreme power to bring what’s learned into reality.

For this purpose, colleges fest plays a major role in giving students an opportunity to get hands-on experience for what is learned. This taste of a real-world experience can build a variety of skills and be the perfect tool for practical learning.

College fests augment students’ practical learning experiences, introducing them to varied arenas of skills, making them better at managerial skills, critical thinking, soft skills, boosting confidence, enhancing communication skills, and whatnot. College fest gives students a fair chance to show their talents, explore their interests and enhance their skills.

One such fest is Arithmós: The Management and Strategy festival of Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics (Autonomous) which was held on 20th-23rd January 2022.

With events ranging from business strategizing to quantitative aptitude, Arithmós covered all the various fields so as to help students gain experience through practical life scenarios. The events that Arithmós offered to its participants provided them with the much-needed intellectual stimulus and have fun at the same time while solving various questions, puzzles, cases, and challenges.

These events were made in a way that not only exposed students to avenues of management and the business world but also ensure that they learn the required skills in order to excel in the field.

Arithmós was founded in the year 2019 with a vision to challenge the minds of those who want to explore arenas beyond classroom theories and textbooks. Over the last 2 editions, Arithmós has grown manifold.

This year, Arithmós’22 reached new heights with 10000+ teams spread across 15 events. Along with this over 200+ colleges participated from 50 cities, some of them included reputed colleges like SRCC, IIM Indore, Hansraj College among many others.

There were 14 exciting events in 5 different categories with a total prize fund amounting to Rs. 6 lakhs.

The 5 categories are-

  • Business Strategy Events.
  • Analytical Events
  • Innovations
  • Quantitative Events
  • Informals

Business Strategy Events 

The 4 events under this category were-

  • #DigitalMarketing
  • The Supply Chain Dilemma
  • The Consul-tric Event
  • The M&A Pitch

These events will help participants learn the art of efficient management of time and resources. It will also improve strategizing skills of participants which will include making an effective plan in unconventional circumstances so as to achieve the desired outcome.

After all, what’s better than knowing what to do to get what you want! ;))

Analytical Events 

There were 4 events in this category as well-

  • Rags to Riches
  • Scam 2022- The illegal Money
  • HowStat!
  • ArithmóStock

Analytical events test the logic, analyses, and interpretation of the given situation. It helps participants gain insights into the field of Data analyses and financial analyses, thus helping them gain some experience.

Innovations 

Innovations had 2 events under it, those were-

  • Siyasat
  • The Bot Trader

Arithmós strongly believes in Innovation as a drive to future growth and so we have come up with some of the most innovative and unique events. These events will test the creativity, speaking, and management skills of participants.

Quantitative Events 

The 2 events under this category are-

  • The Survival Strategy
  • R&AW’s

Operation: Looming Dragon

India has been home to numerous maths geniuses from Aryabhatta to Shakuntala Devi.

Arithmós would be incomplete without mathematical and quantitative events. If the participants enjoy number-crunching, problem-solving, quantitative reasoning, and can manipulate precise and intricate ideas then this place is for them!

Informals 

Informals also has two events under it-

  • The Time Turner’s Pursuit
  • The Big Breakout

Informals is all about bridging the gap between learning and fun. Involving events such as murder mysteries, board games, sports strategies, and quizzes that focus on the lighter side of the fest yet keep in mind the vision of the fest and ensure that skill development isn’t ignored.

Along with these exciting events, Arithmós also had various seminars and workshops from industry experts. They had 5000+ attendees in their workshops, speaker sessions, and Summits.

The Festival had eminent founders, CEO’s as their speakers like Mr. Arun Bothra (CEO and MD of various State-owned Companies), Mr. Pranjal Mehta – (Co-founder of the ePlane Company), Mr. Anubhav Dubey (Founder of Chai Sutta Bar), Mr. Ronak Gala (Founder of Leap-up) and many others.

Their Mumbai Startup Summit consisted of sessions from well-known startup founders, networking opportunities for young entrepreneurs, and a one-to-one chat with speakers and mentors. This summit focused on developing entrepreneurial instinct and encouraging gen-z to start their own ventures.

Mumbai Startup Summit had speakers Hrishikesh Datar (Founder of Vakilsearch.com), Raj Das (Global Co-founder and Indian CEO of Hirect), Amit Kumar (CEO & Founder of No-Broker.com), Mr. Akash Gupta (Co-founder & CEO of Zypp Electric) and Mr. Subhash Bhadra ( Director of Capital Platform at Klub).

All in all, it was a great festival with a lot of learning, experiences, and excitement. All the participants enjoyed the events thoroughly and Dr. Parag Ajagaonkar, Principal of NM College applauded the efforts of all the teams, colleges, contingents, and organizing committee. Across 38 podiums maximum were won by reputed institutes like the Indian School of Business and IIT’s.

The best contingent trophy was won by the Commerce society of Hansraj College, DU and the runner-up trophy went to Nagindas Khandwala College, Mumbai.
