The Italian Prime Minister (PM) Giorgia Meloni has created debates about talking about Islam at a public gathering in her country and how it is not compatible with Europe and its values.
This is not the first time that politicians have talked about this particular religion and especially Europe has been taking several measures to control it for some time now.
October. French Minister of Sports Amelie Oudea-Castera reportedly informed the people that sportswomen in the French delegation will be allowed to wear hijab at the 2024 Olympic Games that Paris will host next year.
Now, a video has been going viral of Italy’s PM claiming that the Islamic culture is not compatible with European values at a far-right event as per reports.
What Did The Italian PM Say?
Giorgia Meloni, Italy’s current PM was reported to be at a political event organised by her far-right party Brothers of Italy in Rome.
As per reports, the comments are believed to be in light of the refugees, said to be from African or West-African regions coming to Europe as an escape and that a big part of them happen to be Muslim.
In one of the videos uploaded online, Meloni is seen to be saying “I think there is a problem of compatibility between Islamic culture or a certain interpretation of Islamic culture and the rights and values of our civilisation. It does not escape my mind that most of the Islamic cultural centres in Italy are financed by Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia is a nation that at home applies the Sharia, and Sharia means lapidation for adultery, death penalty for apostasy, death penalty for homosexuality. I believe that these issues should be raised, which does not mean generalising on Islam.
It means raising the problem that there is a process of Islamisation in Europe that is very, very distant from the values of our civilisation.”

The Italian PM emphasised in her words that she would not let Sharia law to be implemented in her country and Meloni is not the only one to say certain controversial things.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak too was in attendance at the event and he said “If we do not tackle this problem, the numbers will only grow. It will overwhelm our countries and our capacity to help those who actually need our help the most.”
He further added, “If that requires us to update our laws and lead an international conversation to amend the post-war frameworks around asylum, then we must do that.”
However, Meloni’s statements itself are actually from an old video that is currently going viral. The video is from five years ago and started trending when her attendance at the event by her ultra-conservative party was made public.
