The Hogwarts Letter: dream of many, reality of none.

I wrote this one, so the letter may be sort of fake, but the news it contains is as true as it gets! The Harry Potter play is real and it’s happening!

London is beautiful in the summer and as though we didn’t have enough reasons to make that trip already, JK Rowling has just given us one more.

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” coming to a theatre near you (if you live in London West).

When: End summer 2016

Where: Palace Theatre

Harry-Potter-Birthday

Rowling’s rock-bottom life, old typewriter and big idea created a miracle.

A few years ago, Harry Potter fans all over the world were heart broken to hear that the seventh book would be the final book and the magical journey was coming to an end.

But it never really ends, does it?

There’s Pottermore, a website for all Potterheads, where Rowling regularly releases insights about the story and various different aspects about the characters and other secrets.

Then came Quidditch Through the Ages, The Tales of Beetle the Bard and Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them (which is now being turned into a movie, by the way) and now this play!.

Looking into the crystal ball, it is perfectly clear then that once you board the Hogwarts Express, the magic never really ends and Rowling makes sure of that.

So basically, the Harry Potter hype is still there. After all this time? Always.

Remember when you read your first Harry Potter book? And all the times you wished you could read it again for the first time, because the story changed your life?

Well, golden opportunity! The play will exhibit an untold story of the boy who lived. So we get that chance of watching a brilliant story (I can be sure of this without any doubt) for the very first time.

The story will be fresh and it is not just a re-do of the first book. Its our chance to experience the magic one more time!

Although many people think so, the play is also not a prequel to the books.

Who needs a prequel now anyway?! Actually, with the several unanswered questions, I think we could always do with one of those.

Book, movie, theme park and now a play? To come to think of it, if Harry Potter hadn’t been cursed by… umm… you-know-who, all our lives would have been cursed without the series!

The play is based on an original story by Rowling. It is directed by John Tiffany and the playwright is Jack Thorne. It has been produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender’s Playground Entertainment and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions.

The Creative Team:

Steven Hoggett- movement

Christine Jones- set designer

Katrina Lindsay- costume designer

Imogen Heap- music

Gareth Fry- sound

Jeremy Chernick- special effects

Neil Austin- lighting

The tickets for the play will be out this fall and one thing is for sure, it will be one big queue. Thank god, we can buy them online and don’t have to stand outside bookstores at the crack of dawn for hours and hours (not saying it wasn’t worth it).

Set, costumes, prop, this just got real! We are in for a truly magical surprise… and I for one cannot wait!

So what are you waiting for? Grab your hats, robes and cloaks and book those plane tickets (or alternatively, buy those broomsticks) already! Run along now! Off you go!
