When we talk of people who have defeated poverty, Alfred Nickson is definitely not too far fetched.
From growing up in the inner rough cities of Miami where the chances of going to college rested solely on getting a sport scholarship, he started his entrepreneurial journey at 19 and got inducted into the Million Dollar Hall of fame at just 27 years old.
Alfred has really come a long way and today he shares with us practical tips to defeat the poverty mentality
Change your environment
We are not born with a poverty mentality. Rather, we acquire it from our immediate environment. If the people you move with have higher standards, you will be forced to raise your standards
“When I first told my friend about the business,” Alfred says, “he literally fell on the floor laughing and told me I was duped. I called my upline then and he asked me why will I take advice from someone who is not financially stable”.
You don’t have to fire your old friends but simply make new ones who are going somewhere.
Look up to people
Put yourself out there and look for someone that knows the way and is willing to push you out of your comfort zone to get what you want out of life.
“My mentors were instrumental in helping me create a seven plus figure business and I would advise anyone who is looking to becoming an entrepreneur, create multiple streams of income or start a business to create a tight group of mentors they can rely on”.
Take actions
Having a solid mindset is important. However, you will achieve nothing without accurate actions.
“Growing up In the rough inner cities of Miami was a blessing in disguise. Those humble beginnings truly blessed me. Seeing the poverty, drugs, and gun violence motivated me to break the cycle and work my butt off to get ahead. I knew I had to do things differently. I did the complete opposite of everything I saw around me because I didn’t want to end up like a lot of the people I grew up around”.
Don’t just write your goals down, don’t just dream big. Take actions today.
Believe in your capability
“The difference between a successful person and others isn’t lack of strength, not lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of strong will”
-Vince Lombardi
Believing in yourself means having faith in your capabilities. When you believe in yourself, you can overcome self doubt and have the confidence to take action and get things done.
Be Grateful
Being wealthy is only partly about what you have. If you truly appreciate what you have, you will fell more wealthy regardless of your position.
“Everything I have come from the grace of God. My faith and religion are extremely important to me, so sowing back into the church has been essential as I continue to gain wealth”.
