Following surges in Kerala and Maharashtra, India’s COVID-19 cases reached a three-month high a few weeks ago, raising fears of a new wave just when the nation was beginning to recover to some kind of normalcy.

While the distribution of booster shots is taking its time, over one-fifth of the population over the age of 12 is still not completely immunised.

The good news is that hospitalisation and mortality seem to be at a minimum because infections seem to be minor.

India recorded 17,336 daily new COVID cases on 24th June, Friday, a 30 percent increase from the previous day. The number of active cases in India is presently 88,284.
