With the upcoming general elections, parties and politicians are clamoring for the center stage. Political parties everywhere are rallying and raising support for their campaign.

As a result, the Indian population is once again introduced to the annual spectacle where the politicians go from place to place, making false promises.

Who Is Shashi Tharoor?

Amongst this mayhem, within the dynastic party is one gentleman who is just too progressive for Indian politics. Dr. Shashi Tharoor, a senior Congress member and a Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerela since 2009, is a personal favorite of the millenials.

Tharoor’s political prowess does not stop there. He has also served as the Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Minister of State for External Affairs, and the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Communications and Public Information.

Apart from his mind-numbing and wordy lists of achievements and posts, Dr. Tharoor is an avid reader and a bestselling author.

What the Millenials Think about Dr. Shashi Tharoor

“He is just too educated for Indian Politics”- says Agrima Verma, a student from DU.

“It’s high time we had him actively involved in, on ground politics because he is definitely one of the most enlightened and intelligent candidates we have seen in recent years.  He has time and again represented India at the international level and made us all proud with his high observational skills. Thus, it’s time now we have a great leader like him as our MP”.– feels Akshita Singh, a student from LSR.

Nowadays, Indian politics is reduced to an arena for petty, bickering children with little or no substance to uphold their campaign. Among such leaders, Tharoor is hailed as someone of a better educational background who can bring about change.

While some think he is too good for politics, some want to make him the face of this country. With the sad state of affairs that is Indian politics, the youth started an online petition for replacement of Rahul Gandhi’s candidature as PM with Shashi Tharoor. The petition went viral causing Tharoor to publically address it.
