Inaugural Asian Games And The Birth of Tradition
The inception of the Asian Games dates back to 1951 when the first edition was held in New Delhi, India. This landmark event marked the beginning of a sporting tradition that would endure for generations.
In that inaugural edition, eight Asian nations came together to celebrate their shared passion for sports and competition.
The opening edition of the Asian Games witnessed India as the second-highest medal winner, with Japan being the only nation ahead in the medals tally. India’s impressive performance set the stage for future competitions and showcased the country’s commitment to athletic excellence.
