We have always heard of countries attracting tourists, but now, things have changed. Overtoursim has become a challenge for many famous tourist destinations worldwide. The tourists who earlier were welcomed very happily by these places, have now turned into a headache.

‘Overtourism’ is a very new and surprising concept. In August 2023, locals of the beautiful Austrian lakeside village Hallsatt, staged a blockade of the main access tunnel, to protest overtourism.
