Top 8 Moments From Game Of Thrones Season 6

-

With yet another season coming to a climax, us Game of Thrones fans have a humongous ten months to wait out before we see any further action. And no, you would not want to put pressure on George R.R Martin to hurry up with the books.

But before we bid adieu, let us reminisce over the moments which astounded us the most and had the biggest impact on the storyline.

(In no particular order)

  1. Jon Snow’s Resurrection

got3

Yes, Jon, a haircut coupled with a bath brings me back to life too. So much for the pompous fan predictions, it didn’t take a lot to get him back to the living. Nonetheless, his resurrection will always be a paramount point in the storyline as he is potentially ‘the prince who was promised’.

We now know that our homeboy has the gods on his side, otherwise how would you explain the several hundred arrows miraculously evading him during his battle with Ramsay?

  1. Arya Stark slaughtering Walder Frey after he has a taste of Frey Pie

got 4

What’s better than watching the treacherous Walder Frey getting murdered? Watching him stuff his own sons as pies before he finally meets his end. Just glad that the whole episode in Braavos was not a complete waste.

Arya ably used her ‘internship skills’ to disguise herself as a serving girl. “My name is Arya Stark. I want you to know that. The last thing you’re ever going to see is a stark smiling down at you as you die.” Just one word, EPIC.

  1. Ramsay Bolton getting eaten alive by his own hounds

got6

Game of thrones has made me quite a sadistic person. I cheered with joy as I saw a man being feasted on by hounds. But come on, Ramsay had it coming. After all his dark deeds, there should be a special place in hell just for him. I wish Theon Greyjoy could have watched him die, though.

And that little smirk from Sansa as she walked away was priceless. She really has changed a lot from being that annoying little girl who thought her family was stupid and just wanted to marry Joffrey.

  1. Cersei Lannister burning down the Great Sept of Baelor with wildfire

got7

Cersei is a lot of things, but she’s no slouch. When she had to admit that all odds were against her, she went for the best solution…. burning down the bloody odds. In one swift move, she eliminated The Faith, High Sparrow and the Tyrells with the exception of Olenna.

I do believe that Margaery had a plan and was always one step ahead, but Cersei was always a further step ahead. If only the faith had paid heed to Margery’s warning in time, a lot of lives could have been saved. Cersei obviously won this battle, but will she win the coming wars?

  1. Jon Snow being hailed as the king in the North

got 8

Finally, the north has a true successor to the young wolf, Robb Stark. Quite unexpected considering the fact that just last season Jon Snow was the Lord Commander of the Night’s watch. But in his defence, death is what relieves a brother of the Night’s watch from his duties, and die he did. The scene was rousing indeed, I started chanting ‘the king in the North’ along with the Northerners until I saw my parents staring at me and probably thinking they should have gone for adoption.

But who cares? ALL HAIL THE WHITE WOLF, THE KING IN THE NORTH!

  1. Battle of the Bastards

got9

With a number of episodes building it up, the Battle of the Bastards had a lot of pressure to be as good as everyone expected it to be, and it did not disappoint. The battle was enthralling and the creators must have had a headache in pulling it off as magnificently as they did. A little predictable, but entertaining nonetheless. As hard as it is to admit, Sansa really saved Jon’s head. He was doomed until the nights of Vale arrived. I’m just happy I could watch Jon repeatedly punch Ramsay in the face at the end. (RIP Wun Wun)

  1. Jon’s true lineage getting revealed in Bran’s greensight vision

got10

After what feels like a millennium of waiting, R+L=J finally got confirmation. No, to anyone still clueless out there, Wyla is not Jon Snow’s mother. Neither is Ned if that was your second guess. Jon’s lineage means he is half Targaryen, half Stark and full ‘one true heir’ to the iron throne, talk about pressure.

Not to forget the star carved hilt of Dawn foreshadowing Jon being ‘the prince who was promised’ as he was ‘born from a bleeding star’. It just keeps on getting better! Wonder how long it will take for Jon to realise how special he really is.

  1. Hodor ‘holding the door’ as Bran and Meera escape

got11

Almost every viewer was left teary-eyed watching the gentle giant sacrifice his life to save Bran and Meera. And what’s even sadder is that Bran was responsible for his disability. Again, Bran, if someone as creepy as the three-eyed raven tells you not to do something, you really ought not to. This was one of the saddest moments in GOT history, right up there with the red wedding. But who knows? He might return as a wight. As they say, the night is dark and full of terrors.

Now we wait and hope that the next season is even better. But one thing you can definitely count on is that people are going to die. Valar Morghulis.
