I always used to wonder how a marker and a duster can shape the future of so many students and how the teachings of a teacher can have a lasting impact on your mind for the rest of your life. In my life, that teacher came by name of Alosies George.
Planning to start prepping for CAT exams, I came across an institute called the George Prep. Soonafter, I enrolled myself into it. Within just a span of few months of joining the institute, I underwent a deluge of self-reflections and a drastic change in the way I view life. There was a lot more than mere teaching happening there.
But the most remarkable thing amongst my experience at George Prep was Alosies George, the founder of the institute. Not only was he able to transform all of my sceptical views within a span of few months, he actually gave me a real life example of how a great teacher INSPIRES.
Here are a few reasons as to why he will forever remain a true inspiration and a role model to me for the rest of my life:
Born into a family of 3 and being the youngest child, he faced a lot of financial difficulties in his early years and yet, took it all in the right stride. When all the kids his age were playing with toys and frolicking in mud, he used to toy around with a slate and a pencil and scribble something on it solemnly. Perhaps, that is when he got his call of destiny.
In order to solve the money crunch and utilising his love for the art of teaching, he started taking classes for CAT to students his age, in a renowned institute at the age of 20! For a person who is pursuing B SC. Chemistry, to take Quantitative aptitude and Logical Reasoning classes to students his age, it requires a lot of burning desire and an innate ability. I couldn’t find anything more inspiring than this!
That is when he decided that he was made out, for a career in teaching. After 4 years of teaching, sheer hard work and self-learning, he finally joined in one of the most prestigious B-Schools in the country, IIM Calcutta. Financial difficulties failed to daunt him and he started taking CAT classes for students during his second year of MBA.
After graduating out of IIM Calcutta, he started George Prep, a CAT coaching institute in Visakhapatnam, in 2015. Being a newbie and facing tremendous competition from other formidable opponents in the CAT market, he underwent a lot of turbulence during his first year. Struggles only sharpened him and made him an unassailable winner.
He is one of the handful of professors in the country who can teach Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Reasoning and Logical Reasoning with equal ease.
The story of his life gives a simple yet powerful message, Where there’s a will, there’s a way! When obstacles block the way, the wise will make them THE WAY! Being able to resonate with his such vigorous efforts to achieve his goal, not only gave me a sense of confidence but also made me realise that hardwork forever pays. What it takes is the belief, conviction, perseverance and vision.
George sir’s amazing mystique and the in-depth knowledge of the subject combined with his spectacular teaching technique was the best thing to have happened to me in my academic career. Having had a teacher who not only inspires you by his personal struggles but also with every time he touches the marker is what I consider the real deal. The effects that his marker and duster casted will forever motivate me to prosper in life!
