Elon Musk has done it people, after a long will they won’t they situation, and people speculating on it, the Tesla owner has finally taken over Twitter post an overly extended legal fight that was supposed to finish in a trial in Delaware’s Court of Chancery.

He even tweeted a video of him entering the Twitter headquarters in San Fransisco on Wednesday writing “Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in!”

On October 27th, 2022 the deal was closed and Musk was instantly the new owner of Twitter and one of the first things he did was instantly fire Parag Agrawal, chief financial officer (CFO) Ned Segal, Gadde, general counsel Sean Edgett, and head of legal policy Vijaya Gadde.

Elon Musk has assumed the position of CEO as per reports and promptly dissolved the board of directors.

It has been a wild few days for the Twitter employees and the platform itself, with people coming up with more and more bizarre theories. However, one that has not been taken well is the assumed ‘blue tick fee’ that is being planned.

Stephen King Not Happy

On 31st October, the bestselling author Stephen King posted on his official Twitter that “$20 a month to keep my blue check? F*** that, they should pay me. If that gets instituted, I’m gone like Enron.”

Musk then cheekily replied that “We need to pay the bills somehow! Twitter cannot rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8?” He also added that “I will explain the rationale in longer form before this is implemented. It is the only way to defeat the bots & trolls.”

This is apparently referring to the rumours that Twitter might soon start to charge verified users or those who have a ‘blue tick’ on their profiles a monthly charge for that badge to remain.

Elon Musk Twitter fee

While Twitter has not yet confirmed this yet, speculations are still going around of this monthly fee with a report by The Platformer saying it could be as low as $5. Another report by The Verge, however, has theorised that the fee could be almost $19.99 and be in combination with the Twitter Blue subscription.

Twitter Blue actually already exists in certain countries and basically offers users access to some extra and interesting features based on a monthly fee subscription model. One of those extra perks includes the edit button for tweets that is only available for Twitter Blue subscribers.
