The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 is a legislative act in India that ensures that women are protected at all the work places, be it public or private. This contributes to the realisation of their right to gender equality, life and liberty and equality in working conditions everywhere.
Sexual harassment at its very nature is very unclear. The acts that constitute as sexual harassment relies on verbal and non-verbal acts and gestures on the part of the accused, which are, in most cases, very subjective in nature and therefore it becomes very difficult to determine whether an act can be deemed as sexual harassment or not.
It becomes pertinent, then, to make sure that a full-fledged inquiry takes place where each and every evidence that comes to light is scrutinized extensively.
