Yesterday the dates for the 2019 general elections were released by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The month-long polling process will start on 11th April 2019 and the results will be announced on the 23rd of May.

As soon as the dates were announced, political parties pulled up their socks, starting with the final stage of the campaigning which had started long back.

Elections will clash with the fasting month of Ramzan, starting on May 5. Many Muslim leaders questioned the dating policy of ECI, saying that such dates are chosen on purpose to make sure that the minority section cannot cast its vote and Hinduvadi parties sweep the elections.

However, the firebrand Muslim leader, Asaduddin Owaisi very responsibly welcomed the upcoming elections during Ramzan. The Hyderabad MP said,

“Election is a long process. We fast and we vote in Ramzan. This Ramzan, the Muslim vote percentage will be increased. We will defeat evil forces”.

Despite the propaganda that is being forwarded on social media against the dates of elections, Muslims have a different opinion. Many people professing Islam voiced their opinion against this propaganda on Twitter. Some of them are here for you to refer.
