When one thinks of Bollywood actors, you wouldn’t necessarily think humble or simple as the best ways to describe them.
According to common mindset, Bollywood actors are arrogant, vain, rude and a bunch of other negative stuff. At least the younger generation is thought so to be like this, with the polite and somber crowd being the senior actors who have a decent following.
And while sure, a big bunch of Bollywood actors are a little on the proud side who have a slight superiority complex, there are certain people who break those stereotypes.
Having interacted with some of these Indian cinema people, I have come to realise that there really do exist some humble Bollywood actors who don’t have a fragile ego and instead are quite decent, normal people to be around.
Here are a few personal experiences where we collaborated with these Bollywood stars and got to see the nice side of Bollywood surprisingly:
1. Deepika Padukone:
We interviewed her in 2015 during the promotion circuit of the 2015 film Tamasha along with Ranbir Kapoor and director Imtiaz Ali.
Deepika was already riding high on the success of her previous films Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, Ram Leela, and Piku when Tamasha came out and was no small actor.
So it was actually a good surprise to find out how thorough of a professional she was during the interview.
Her entire attitude was extremely approachable and not judging of the interviewer which can instead make them even more nervous. It was easy to interact with her and the interview went smoothly when she did not make any kind of fuss about the questions being put up to her.
2. Kalki Koechlin:
In 2015 we also interviewed Kalki Koechlin, who was an acclaimed actor in both commercial and independent film area with her unique choices of films and outspoken nature.
Having gone into the interview with a slight hesitancy over what kind of actor we’d have to deal with, the reality was a pleasant turn.
Kalki was quite gracious and down to earth instantly putting us at ease and keeping the whole vibe of the interview extremely fun and casual.
Interacting with her felt less like talking to a famous celebrity and more like meeting an online friend for the first time.
3. Vidya Balan:
Vidya Balan was perhaps the one that we were most nervous about because not only was she among Bollywood elites but also a senior actor, unlike Kalki and Deepika.
However, the minute she entered the room it was an instantaneous effect where she just made everyone feel at ease.
Even someone who was taking their first interview was not made to feel inferior or bad about not being as good the professionals.
The best thing about Balan was how she managed to lift up the spirits of everyone in the room immediately and kept a light and airy environment throughout. Participating eagerly into the questions, not taking offence instead adding her own cheeky one-liners and more were good indicators of what kind of a personality she has.

4. S. S. Rajamouli
Attending the book release of Shivagami was an experience enough, but meeting the cast of Baahubali and director Rajamouli truly took it to another level.
However, what struck me the most about Rajamouli was his humble and down to earth nature.
This was the director of a movie that was breaking records left and right, perhaps one of the highest grossing movie in Bollywood and setting a new history in itself due to its sheer magnitude.
But even while security and their managers were trying to hurry them, he still sat with us and answered a few questions. All this in a very polite and calm way as if he had all the time in the world. Nowhere did it feel as if he was trying to send us away or appeared agitated.
It was truly a surreal experience.
While the above were personal experiences, we cannot complete the list without mentioning:
5. Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan might be called as the Baadshah of Bollywood, but his humble nature is something more widely known.
The love and attention he has for his fans have sworn their loyalty to him and his self-deprecating humour has made him relatable to people of all categories.
According to a tweet made last year, SRK apparently helped a fan carry her bag at the Kolkata airport while he was in the city during the Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders match.
