ED Review – The OPPO F1 Selfie Expert – Uncensored

-

Hello world, I’m the blabber-mouth from ED who was graced with the opportunity to review the brand new – OPPO F1 Selfie Expert!

After being so graciously invited for its exclusive launch in Bombay, we were handed over the smartphone for a thorough, honest review. Post using the phone for a good four-day trial period during which, mind you, I pushed the phone to (what was in accordance with my understanding) its limits, I got a solid peak into the world of the OPPOs.

So without further ado, let’s begin.

UNBOXING (LET’S STRIP THAT ISH UP!)

Once Slender-Man is unboxed, the set of ingredients that come along with it are as mentioned below:

Much like a belly full of meal, the OPPO F1 comes with an entire kit, even a phone cover (which made me cringe – rubbery plastic like Flubber) but it ticked all the right boxes, like I said – a belly full of warm meals.

SPECIFICATIONS

Display: 5.0 inches (I guess that’s apt enough)

Processor: Quad-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53

Front Camera: 8 Megapixels (Not only your black-heads but your pores as well, on display)

Screen & Resolution:  IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, running on 720×1280 pixels (Eyes already turning to mush)

RAM: 3GB

OS: Android OS, 5.1 (Lollipop)

11

Storage: 16 GB, expandable up to 128GB via an SD Card.

Rear Camera: 13MP – the emphasis was laid more on the selfie (front) camera but the picture quality is pretty neat with Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama and video recording at 1080p@30fps.

Price: Rs. 16,990/- only (All at the risk of NOT burning a hole in your pocket)

Besides these main features, it goes without saying that it’s a heavy-duty phone (in a good way) containing other paraphernalia such as an SD Card slot, 4G LTE compatibility, so on and so forth. Some things just don’t need to be highlighted.

GAMEPLAY AND APP SWITCH OVERS –

I wouldn’t make this point text heavy as I’ve explained this feature in the video I made AND edited myself below, as a total amateur *Self-Five*

Now that the major part is covered, let’s jump into a little comparison. Eh, mate?

A LITTLE SPORTSMANSHIP – GALAXY S6 EDGE Vs THE OPPO F1

What’s life without a little tussle? And tussle we shall! Basically, I had two very sleek phones in my hand and what better option than to pit them against each other? So here’s what I found –

COMPARISON BASIS GALAXY S6 EDGE OPPO F1
1. Camera Speed 5/5 3/5
2. Display 4.5/5 3/5
3. Selfies 3.5/5 4.5/5
4. Value for Money Overpriced Affordable with a sigh of relief.
5. Look Slender, glassy-glossy effect. Metalic gold with a hint of panache.

WOOS-

Well, it might not be the best smartphone in the world but it’s well equipped with a –

  • Better user-interface,
  • Faster processor,
  • Latest OS that’s upgradable along the way and
  • A battery life which I found far sturdier than the ‘elite’ phablets I’ve used.

MEHS –

  • One major downside that I found were the earphones. Now you would expect in-ear, noise cancelling swaggy ones, but much to our dismay, the earphones were perhaps imported from 1947, i.e, they’re run of the mill, basic ones; so you might as well stick on to your Skullcandys.
  • The other was the Screen. In an era of the AMOLED, you would expect a move-on from the dull LCD, which mind-you, bogged me down no ends
  • The brightness level was anything but bright during the vanilla usage of the phone but suddenly went on hyper-drive while playing a game.

VERDICT –

If you’re an On-The-Go person who doesn’t like to be weighed down by an over-bearing phone, let alone other gadgetry or a High-Profile socialite who needs perfection in every image,  then I suggest that the OPPO F1 grants you the entire package, ranging from beautifying your face to playing games that give you the hibee-jibees.

In short, I’ll give it a – 3.5/5 for overall – a little short-of-flawless – performance.

However, we now move towards the last leg of our review – the Battle of the Selfies – Which selfie took the baton (OPPO) and which so solemnly lost (Galaxy S6 Edge).

Let’s have a look –

P.S.: Please take my review seriously. I’m a smart person.
