If you find yourself with a creative itch only a competitive intercollegiate event can scratch, you have found yourself smack in the middle of Mithibai College’s Da Quill Literary Fest! The Department of Foreign Languages in collaboration with The Literary Society brings to you this year’s edition where they explore the theme of Children’s literature.

Da Quill is a two-day festival run by students of Mithibai College that share a collective love for languages and literature. The festival is a celebration of languages, it comes with the promise of no one being left behind. It is sure to be a carnival of literary delights jam-packed with music, discourse, and various other exciting literary activities!

Guidelines 

-Participants must join each event 15 minutes in advance.

-Any misbehavior, abusive language and inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated.

-The organizing committee holds the right to disqualify the participants and alter the rules and regulations at any given point in time.

-In case of any disagreement, the Judge’s decision will be final. -Guidelines for each event must be thoroughly read and followed.

Creative Writing Workshop 

Conducted by Dr. Mark MacLeod

Time: 12:30 to 1:00 pm

This workshop is an event dedicated to developing the talent and passion of student writers. Another perk is the chance to connect with the online writing community by signing up for this Writer’s Workshop.

Demystify the process of writing by learning how to:

  • Practical solutions to writers’ block
  • Dynamic methods for characterization
  • A bold new approach to the imaginative side of the mind

Twist A Tale 

Date: 11th February 2022

Time: 2:00 to 3:30 pm

Have you ever wondered what your favorite tales would be like if they were written in this age? What would have happened if Cinderella’s shoe fit her step-sister? Well, Da Quill’s ‘Twist the Tale’ is an opportunity for you to discover these endless possibilities.

Flip the script and rewrite the ending depending on your given prompt. Fairy Tales or short stories, comedies, or tragedies. Here’s a chance for you to reimagine your favorites. So, put on your thinking hats and get ready to give classic tales a twist!

Open Mic

Round 2: 

Date: 11th February 2022

Time: 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm

Da Quill’21 is extremely psyched to organize its most-hyped event – Open Mic!

As the name’Open Mic’suggests, Open Mic is a platform open to all enthusiasts of poetry, stand-up comedy and storytelling!

Having a way with words is a skill that not everyone can possess and Da Quill’22 is the best place for you in all forms of creative expression.

An evening full of laughter, tears, and chills, this event is gonna be a wonderful opportunity for you to showcase your incredible expertise and interact with talent like yours! Join it and show us your mesmerizing talent!

The Collective 

Date: 12th February 2022

Time: 12:00 to 1:30 pm

Who doesn’t like a good ol’ laugh about the days of yore? Here is a chance to bring out the hidden storyteller in you. It is a chance to leave the monotony of working-from-home in the last week, pulling down your walls and sharing a laugh with new friends.

This collegiate event will be of around 20-25 participants that will be split into groups. One from each will be elected to perform their piece (Remember that the piece could be slam poetry or just a plain old story but has to be somewhat elocutionary) on the given prompt after which you will be asked to pick the winning anecdote.

Cosplay 

Round 1:

Time: 4:00 to 6:00 pm

Round 2: 

Date: 12th February 2022

Time: 6:00 pm onwards

Don’t let the pandemic come in the way of your creative expression! Join the team at Da Quill Fest’22 Mithibai College where you can dress up as your favorite literary pop culture character of all time!

This is an opportunity to have the kind of social contact with fellow cosplayers that makes their interest so fulfilling.
