India’s UNSC Chairmanship

India took over the presidency of the United Nations Security Council on August 1st. The nation plans to hold major events surrounding three major areas- maritime security, peacekeeping, and counterterrorism.

This happened in the same month when India celebrated its 75th Independence Day. Prior to this, India was a non-permanent member of the Security Council since 2021.

Tawang Clash

Chinese soldiers made an attempt to push back Indian soldiers on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the area of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. With firmness and bravery, India tackled the Chinese soldiers during the face-off and forced them to return to their position.

Even after being in lockdown for the past two years, India was able to hold a major position at the international level. It gave the message that India isn’t a soft power anymore and knows how to take a stand for its people.
