Google Chrome Incognito Mode Myths Busted (Video)

Privacy has become a big thing in today’s time especially in the internet domain with the rampant invasion of it by the government and other sites.

In order to give their users an added incentive to use their browser, many web browser sites offer ways in which the user can protect their identity.

The biggest one in this arena would be Google Chrome’s Incognito mode that pulls millions of people around the world into the false sense of security that they are fully protected from prying eyes.

But an interesting point given by Rajiv Makhni, the managing editor of Technology at NDTV and anchor of Gadget Guru, shattered a long-held myth about the Incognito mode of Google Chrome, eventually leading me to search more about what exactly then is it doing if not removing any trace of our online activity.  As per the piece, Makhni said:

“There you are scouting through porn sites and your ex-girlfriend’s Facebook account, blissfully unaware that almost nothing is private. Incognito or private browsing is now built into literally every modern browser but unfortunately it’s been named incorrectly. It should be called ‘No Record Browsing’ as it won’t leave a record of where you went just on your device.”

The facts that I found really put things in perspective and show how blindly we trust the marketing gimmicks of such things without reading the fine print.

Take a look at the video below to find out what exactly is the reality of Google Chrome’s Incognito mode:

The only reason to use incognito would be if you are using a public device and don’t want other people snooping into your history or other activity. And just to be on the safer side, make sure to clear your cache to clear any trace.

Total anonymity is not possible till yet.
