Every year we come across many breathtaking fashion trends and just as many fashion disasters. Though, 2013 witnessed something fresh, fascinating and rather astonishing.
Need I give examples to prove my statement?
I did give my take on Miley Cyrus’ fashion revolution but it didn’t end then, it is still on and I guess we’ll see a lot more of ‘The Wrecking Ball’ star. But no, she’s not the only head turner of the year 2013; there are many others in the line.
This was the year for pixie haircut , bangs sported by our First Lady, funky flat shoes, bare skin.. lots of it by many top actresses and pop stars. Most of them made statements and some learnt ‘never try again’ lessons.
What really got my attention was, royalty getting a fashion makeover. This year Kerry Washington was queen and for real royalty, we had Kate Middleton looking fabulous even when flashing her mommy tummy.
Michelle Obama, our first lady sported bangs and when no one could make bangs a fashion trend, she did. In fact, U.S. President Barack Obama actually called his wife Michelle’s new hairdo, the most significant event of his second inauguration.
Rated best dressed celebrity of 2013, Kerry Washington was indeed the fashion queen. On her hit show ‘Scandal’ she is all professional but on red carpet, she was glamour personified. Her best was when she wore Marchesa gown at the Emmy’s, she looked stunning.
2013 saw a lot of bare skin, literally I mean. We had Gwyneth Paltrow showing just how little cellulite she has when she appeared at the Iron Man 3 premiere in a dress with sheer mesh panels on the sides, exposing her beautiful legs and a little bit more.
Not just her but, actress Jaimie Alexander was looking splendid in her black gown expanding the see-through effect to the midriff and upper regions at the premier of “Thor”.
Enough said, read, heard and watched about Miley Cyrus this year. From her pixie haircut, teddy bear leotard, twerking, nude bikini to smoking a joint at the much talked about MTV EMA Awards function, she did it all to be the most watched person on the planet if not the trend setter.
Louis Vuitton became the most rewarding fashion house in the world and Marc Jacobs stunned everyone on a Paris Runway Show by his ready-to-wear line designs, full of mournful symbols and lots of black.
Well, I can rightly say that this year actresses & pop stars did save a lot of money on clothes. We got punk, designer moves, neon, the haircuts and we even saw how wearing ‘close to nothing’ can make you a sensation worldwide. The key fashion moment would be when the royal and the powerful joined the fashion league, thanks Michelle,Kerry and Kate for making us feel great!!
