Breakfast Babble is ED’s own little space on the interwebs where we gather to discuss ideas and get pumped up (or not) for the day. We judge things too. Sometimes. Always. Whatever, call it catharsis and join in people.

Many people will find it strange that I believe passion over money to be hyped.  Can passion be pursued without a stable financial condition? No. To be honest, nobody can ever pursue their passion if they don’t have money as security.

Passion is an enticing word. One wants to have it even before one discovers themselves. But the thing is that passion does not bring stability with it. Whatever one pursues, be it for passion or stability it might look good for the first few days but at the end of those days, it feels like a job. Passion doesn’t help it look better. So why not prefer money over anything else?

Passion Is Not Enough

I have seen many who say they’re passionate about something but aren’t allowed to pursue it. I’ve also seen people who say that they have lost so much as they followed their passion. Some say if you’re passionate you’ll find ways to earn and have a stable life.

passion over money

The word passion is not passionate enough. Now, if Farhan (3 idiot reference) had chosen to complete his degree and then pursue Photography wouldn’t it be easy for him and his parents both? I feel so because he could have gotten some app of wildlife photographs out, being an engineering graduate.

Passion Is A Blindfold

Passion blinds one, more than money. Passion does not ensure that you have a good life or not. It’s just an ego-satisfying mechanism that says if one chooses that they’ll be happier. Parents have experienced this earlier and might have had repercussions for it, so they warn you. They know that money is what buys you things and not passion.

Passion lets you dive deep into your wishes and you forget that the world does not work according to whims. A human being always compares his/her life to another one and when one works for passion where s/he’s having a lowly life as compared to someone else who chose money, s/he regrets the decision. Not always but for once, this comes to mind that maybe a better decision could have changed one’s entire life.

Some people say that they made their passion a business. That is when I ask how that is different from business. It is a job. It is a business. It is a daily chore. It is bound to be the same as everyone else. Hence it is just the money that matters.

Passion and finance are terms that have different outcomes for different people. They are pluralistic values that need to be dealt with, with extreme caution.

Choosing passion might sound like taking a high ground but actually, it is just your stake in life to expect happiness. It is genuinely the money that buys you passion(all kinds of sponsorships from big businesses) and hence happiness.
