A petty feud over the final resting place of erstwhile DMK President M Karunanidhi has caused unrest in Chennai, even resulting in violence.
The High Court was even kept open at midnight to debate whether he would be buried at Marina Beach according to the unofficial tradition for ex Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers, or at the isolated Gandhi Mandapam.
It is believed that AIADMK enthusiasts did not want a public memorial at Marina Beach to the erstwhile leader of the opposition party.

Update: As of this morning, the Chennai High Court has ruled that Karunanidhi will be buried at Marina Beach. This is a positive sign- it shows that in death at least, political division will not rule supreme, and the rioting in Chennai can finally end.
