Every one of us has dreamt about our wedding day at least at some point in our lives. We all like to weave tales encapsulating the day’s every little detail. Every ritual has a certain meaning.
Every human, as it goes without saying, has high expectations when it comes to the “Big Day”. From decorations to food, to lights as well as sitting arrangements – everything has to fall in order, perfectly.
The wedding ensemble though has a big role to play. That dress or attire has to attain several levels of perfection. The colour, the details, the fabric, how well it compliments the person wearing it, how well it carries the mood of the occasion – the wedding day demands for everything to be flawless.
As little girls, most of us grew up with a picture of the perfect wedding ensemble in our heads. With time though, a lot of us stopped dreaming while others continued to do so. However, that is a different story for another time.
A wedding ensemble captures the essence of that day. Not just the outfit, but every little detail that makes that day special. It is an ode to the beauty that the relationship holds.
In this article, we will follow up with the recent Bollywood trend – inscribed veils or “pallus”. A handful of the Bollywood beauties customized their veils to include meaningful or deeply personal inscriptions.
1) Deepika Padukone
At her Sindhi wedding to Ranveer Singh, Sabyasachi bride Deepika Padukone chose a crimson lehenga with a matching red dupatta and rich golden embroidery.
She had her dupatta embroidered with the Hindu Mantra “Sada Saubhagyawati Bhava.” The Sanskrit phrase is popularly used in the Indian subcontinent as a blessing to the new bride embarking on an auspicious journey with her partner.

2) Patralekhaa
Patralekhaa chose a stunning crimson lehenga and matching dupatta for her wedding to Rajkummar on November 15, 2021.
The message “Amar poran bhora bhalobasha aami tomaye somorpan korilam” (can be roughly translated to – I surrender all my love and affection to you) was written along the edges of her veil. This little detail simply amplified the beauty of her ensemble.
3) Mouni Roy
For her Bengali wedding to Suraj Nambiar, Mouni Roy chose a traditional red lehenga with golden embroidery. The words “Aayushmanti Bhava” were embroidered over the veil’s edges.
This is another popular blessing meaning “may you be blessed with a long and happy life” in the Indian subcontinent.
4) Alia Bhatt
On April 14, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor exchanged vows, and her bridal ensemble, a regal off-white lehenga with delicate golden embroidery, attracted a lot of attention.
It was interesting to note that Alia’s wedding date was stitched in white thread on her veil. “The fourteenth of April 2022,” the inscription read. Alia went ahead with this personal and cute gesture that added to the authenticity of her ensemble.
Each of these veils is beautiful in its own way. This popular trend has managed to garner a lot of praise on the internet and will probably continue to do so in the coming years.
