Nearly 2 billion users visit YouTube every month, watching billions of hours of content and even uploading more than 720,000 hours of content every day. There’s no doubt that most of you have visited YouTube today. I myself opened it 5 times before 11 am.
Ever since its inception in 2005, YouTube has cemented itself as one of the most visited websites on the internet. It has been the platform from where many found fame and fortune, and occasionally, infamy.
YouTube created a culture of creative freedom, effectively democratizing the internet so now anyone can get famous on the internet, even if it is just 15 minutes of fame.
But sometimes, in between all the billions of views and love that are showered on videos from various content creators, there come along videos that are so universally despised that seemingly the whole internet comes together just to hate certain videos.

5) YouTube Rewind 2019: For The Record
Ironically, a video that features the most liked videos of 2019 is now one of the most disliked videos on the platform. With 9.2 million dislikes, the video was criticized for being ‘uncreative’ and ‘lazy’ compared to previous editions of Rewind.
YouTube’s annual YouTube Rewind series videos are generally a celebration of top creators and channels, but 2019’s video felt less like Rewind and more like a haphazard last-minute school project.
4) Baby Shark Dance
Soul-crushing. Insanity-inducing. Occasionally cute.
These are some ways to describe the annoyingly catchy monstrosity that is the Baby Shark song. The great thing about this video is that the tune never leaves you. The song will be ringing in your ears even as you take your last breath before dying, such is the catchiness of this song.
While it has over 10 million dislikes, it also has its admirers, with over 22 million likes.
The children’s song was uploaded by a South Korean education company and blew up on the internet.

3) Baby
Justin Bieber’s Baby is one song that we all love to hate. While it racked up dislikes and was, at a time, the most disliked video on YouTube, it has gained popularity over the years, having now become the 17th most liked video on YouTube with 15.6 million likes.
However, the fanbase is clearly polarized as it also has over 11.8 million dislikes.
Honestly, considering that Bieber was only 16 when the song released, it isn’t too bad a listen.
2) Sadak 2 Trailer
Following the untimely demise of Sushant Singh Rajput and the ensuing debate on nepotism in Bollywood, netizens decided to showcase their outrage with the one thing that Indian democracy is known for – voting on a massive scale.
Millions got together to dislike the video as a show of outrage against Alia Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt, who had made unflattering remarks against Sushant in an interview years ago.
With over 13.3 million dislikes, Indian netizens made the trailer the second most disliked video on YouTube.
1) YouTube Rewind 2018: Everyone Controls Rewind
We started the list with a Rewind and are ending it with another, worse, universally hated Rewind video.
It seems that YouTube’s own uploads are the ones that receive the most flak.
With over 18.5 million dislikes, the video was criticized by all quarters of the internet.
In fact, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki said, “Even at home, my kids told me it (Everyone Controls Rewind) was cringey.”
