How much time do you spend on social media every day? 2 hours? Possibly more? We are constantly surrounded by a plethora of content and we do devote a better part of our day to consume that, often at the expense of our work.

We have all fallen prey to mindless scrolling on social media platforms. This costs us our time, which we could have spent doing something more productive. No matter how many different apps we use for scheduling and to avoid procrastination, we just can’t seem to leave it, can we?

Plus, it is anyway not healthy to use social media for too long because it affects your eyesight as well. Moreover, it spreads negativity, more than positivity, and one bad post can ruin your whole day.

At this point, for me at least, the nagging of my parents, when I am on the phone for too long, is a blessing because it reminds me that I have work to do. This monitoring, though annoying to some extent, is actually beneficial for me in the long run.

I have my parents for this, but what about those people who live on their own? How do they stop themselves from procrastinating on social media? Apparently, they can hire someone to keep a check on their social media usage. This is what San Fransisco-based CEO did.

Indian CEO Hires A Woman To Slap Him If He Opens Facebook

Maneesh Sethi, the founder and CEO of wearable devices brand Pavlok, hired a woman named Kara off Craigslist for $8 per hour to slap him every time he opens Facebook.

Sethi is also a blogger who wrote about his idea behind hiring someone for a seemingly odd job.

He was spending approximately 6 hours on social media platforms like Facebook and Reddit. He felt the need to be more productive and thus posted an advertisement for this job opening. He wrote in his blog, ”

This is stupid, why am I wasting this time doing nothing? When I have a boss, or someone of authority watching me, I always get my work done. How can I simulate the authority figure?

The result? His productivity increased to 98% from a mere 35-40% a day. This experiment caught the eye of the World’s Richest man Elon Musk, who replied to the following tweet.
