February 19: Rashid Ahmad & social work are complementary to each other. A politician cum leader of the masses, he firmly believes in equity & social justice. He says, ‘social justice runs through my veins.’

Born & brought up in the Hindi Heartland, he has been a key stakeholder in the politics of India’s most populous state for a long time.

As the pandemic raged on, through the first & second waves, Janab Ahmad worked tirelessly to help hapless & poor citizens. His unparalleled work for migrant workers has become a stuff of legend. His contribution & efforts have earned him the ‘Corona Warrior Award’.

A few months back, Lakhimpur Kheri had hogged the headlines for all the wrong reasons as a vehicle mowed down protesting farmers, leaving four dead. Rashid Ahmad & his team rushed to the spot, immediately tending to injured protestors.

Ahmad’s constant fight for social justice has drawn the ire of Yogi Adityanath led state government. But that couldn’t threaten his resolve to work for his people without fear or favour.

In the ongoing Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, marred by dog-whistles & communal posturing, he is contesting from the Nanpara District Bahraich. Undoubtedly, Janab Ahmad is a strong contender in these elections.
