Resistance training involves workout activities that cause the muscles to contract against an external resistance and helps increase strength, tone, and mass.
It can be done by lifting dumbbells, rubber exercise tubing, bricks or bottles of water as they provide a resistance for muscles.
When you lift weights to get stronger or more toned, you are doing resistance exercise. It is also referred to as “strength training” that is associated with lifting weights.
However, it’s incorrect to refer to resistance exercise as strength training and it would be more accurate to phrase it as “resistance exercise that builds strength”.
