Marriage in India is an extremely big deal. It is considered to be the epitome of sacrilege that ties two people in an eternal bond of love and mutual dependence.
Marriage is also seen as a necessity where the ultimate goal is to “settle down”. Everyone in India is asked this very question at different stages of their lives: “So when do you plan to settle down?”
The concept of marriage has not only been sensationalised by websites that claim to find your life partner, but has also been critiqued in its importance, especially by youngsters today.

The importance of marriage is perhaps over emphasised and is continually centred around questions of its relevance.
