You know what triggers my taste buds the most?

Domino’s pizzas, particularly with cheese burst.

But after knowing this alarming fact about their cheese and chemicals used in it, I don’t think I’m going to eat another pizza from Domino’s.

Probably you won’t too.

What’s Wrong With The Domino’s Pizza?

It has been 6 months since cheese samples from Domino’s outlets in Shahjahanpur failed to pass a regular lab test and were fined Rs. 9.5 lakh by the Shahjahanpur ADM earlier in February this year. And yet, there is no media coverage about it.

The Shahjahanpur Domino’s outlet was fined Rs.9.5 lakh for its cheese not being able to pass a lab test.

Only a few media houses published articles regarding the failed lab test, but others were probably waiting for advertisement money to come in from Domino’s and didn’t show any of this news.

Bread samples from the Delhi outlets were found to contain a probable carcinogenic chemical and another one which could trigger thyroid disorders, but yet not much coverage on that too. Annual Food Inspection Reports of CSE – Center for Science and Environment particularly focused on this issue.

The thick white liquid in the test tubes slightly turning yellow shows carcinogenic substances.

Potassium Bromate is a chemical which has high probability of being carcinogenic to humans as it has been shown to cause kidney, thyroid, and gastrointestinal cancer in animals, in a bio hazard survey by the World Medical Association. Almost 84% of the samples of bread collected from the Delhi outlets had this chemical.

Other Chemicals And Problems

Domino’s Nutritional Guide Page shows that some of their food products use Polydimethylsiloxane, otherwise referred to as dimethylsiloxane. This chemical is commonly known to cause irritation and has acute toxicity levels.

Polydimethylsiloxane – a chemical used to make the pizza look fluffier is a toxic one.

Some samples have also confirmed the presence of Potassium Iodate which is as harmful as the Bromate version.

The chemicals are not limited to pizzas. The toxins and carcinogenic chemicals were found in sandwich bread, cheese, butter, cooking oil, pav, white bread and even a few carbonated beverages.

Obviously and very prominently, over-consumption of processed food or food that contains these chemicals will cause obesity first, followed by thyroid dysfunction, skin irritation, gastrointestinal infection, food poisoning, and even cancer.

How Can We Keep Ourselves Safe?

We humans cannot just quit from a habit. So rather than trying to quit eating pizzas and processed food, go slower and reduce the consumption first.

Take as less of carbonated drinks as possible. Milkshakes would be preferably a better choice over the energy drinks or soft drinks.

Eat a lot less sugary food, and try to maintain a highly vegan diet. Vegans have 85% less chances of incurring any food related disease than non-vegans.

Home made pizzas would be better, no chemicals, no synthetic cheese.

Next time you want a pizza, try making one at home, or asking your friend to make one at their place so you both stay safe.

It is scary to know what we eat is not actually food but chemicals added into food to trigger our taste buds and make us eat more and more of it, purely to increase business.
