Dechhen Lama, Founder of Hustle House: Focusing on Fitness over Weight

-

Some people’s journey ends before it even starts. Some people go on setting examples and inspiring others. Those are the stories worth telling. Dechhen Sudeep Lama is one such personality who has lived beyond anyone’s expectations. A certified dentist who has completed a Bachelors in Dental Surgery found her destiny in the world of fitness.

Currently working as Bollybeats Elite Instructor for Mumbai, this dentist turned fitness instructor has launched her own fitness house called Hustle House. Having started her tryst with the world of fitness as somebody finding solace in a one-hour dance fitness session. Now, she has certifications in Zumba Fitness, BollyBeats Fitness, Labooca Fitness, Zumba Step, BollyBeats Fitness MixTape, Booiaka Fitness, Pilates, and Functional Training.

When she was young, she lived a rather carefree life. She had no idea what she wanted to do in the future. Before taking up Dentistry, she even tried to get a degree in Social Work. However, it was not long before she got bored with it and ended up enrolling for BDS.

It was during this time, she used to weigh around 86 kgs and suffered from a lack of self-esteem, and lived a life of humiliation from her peers. Then suddenly, she got a drop-in her second year of Dentistry and found herself with nothing but time at her hands. While she had already taken up an annual gym membership, she didn’t manage to make it to the second day of the gym. But this time, her mother had convinced her to join her for a dance fitness session. She felt vulnerable and scared in the start taking up a spot at the back of the class. But as soon the music started, and everybody started getting in their groove, Dechhen forgot her woes.

Soon, this daily one-hour session became the most awaited hour of her days. She didn’t only find herself calm, and in her element here, she also ended up losing 15 kilos in around six months. But these lessons weren’t about losing weight anymore. These sessions meant much more to her now. This was when her instructor advised her to get a Zumba certification.

She found her parents supportive, and she took no time in enrolling for the course. Her weight has now dropped down to 58 kgs, and she found new happiness in her life. Once she got that certification, she became the favourite trainer of many in no time. She also got many more certifications and was quite happy with the way she saw her life progressing.

Getting her own fitness studio is one such unexpected event that marked a milestone in her life. But she had never even dreamt of getting her own studio. But this is when she had the conversation of a lifetime with her friends where they imagined how will it be to have her studio. This friendly discussion left a rather deep impact on her, and she ended up starting Hustle House.

Soon after, she got BollyBeats Fitness certification which got her a role as BollyBeats Elite Instructor for Mumbai. Here, she provides Choreography to BollyBeat Trainers, and she loves what she does. Other than this, she is also found contributing to society. She is often found participating in social events like MGM Hospital Vashi’s Warm Up for Walkathons, Times of India Group’s Happy Streets, a fitness event with Back to Bachpan, and a fitness event with Rotary Club of Mumbai, amongst others.

She is highly active on various social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube. She loves connecting with people and helps them grow. While she is delighted about how her life turned out, she is looking forward to expanding her fitness studio by opening multiple branches.

Her journey has been nothing less than a roller-coaster ride. However, she didn’t shy away when it mattered and ended up making a huge name for herself in the industry, an industry from which she used to run away is where she now finds herself at home. She found her love in dancing and passion for fitness and inspires others to do the same.
