The hugely popular game, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, more commonly known as PUBG, just came out with its latest update, with PUBG Mobile becoming the first platform to receive the update.
The update was hugely anticipated by the smartphone users, with leaks doing the rounds since months. It was particularly awaited because it came with a new snow map, known as the Vikendi map. The new map is a 6km x 6km map, with Arctic landscape.
PUBG Mobile servers were taken down on 18th December for maintenance, and they are now back online along with all the new additions.
The latest version, known as PUBG 0.10.0, is now available for download on both Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store. The size of the update is around 1.6 GB on Android and 2.1 GB on iOS.
All this said and done, let’s see what we’ve got in this latest PUBG update –
Vikendi is the 4th map in the game, after Erangel, Miramar and Sanhok. Although the new map is larger than Sanhok, it is still smaller than Erangel and Miramar.
The most exciting aspect of this map is the new snow weather that it brings along with it. With the new map, players will also get an exclusive snowmobile vehicle.
It must be noted that although the new Vikendi map has been added on to the Mobile servers, it is not yet available for players to play.
The new map will be available for download from 5:30 am IST on 20th December.

Footprints and vehicle marks will now be visible in the snow map, which will help you track your enemies. So keep an eye out for that, as they won’t be visible forever.
You can throw snowballs as well while waiting to board the plane in the beginning.
Cross-server matchmaking is another big feature which comes with the latest update. It will be available 24 hours after the Vikendi update, that is, from 21st December.
This feature allows players of the same tier to match with other players on different servers.
Earlier, players could only connect with the ones playing on the same server. Thus, the new update allows you to be more flexible.
Other Notable Changes
- Support added for Arabic language
- Players who exit matches repeatedly will be banned from finding matches for a while
- Spectators (players become spectators after dying) can now report suspicious behavior
- Season spending rewards will allow players to spend different amounts to get rewards as well as discounts on firearm finishes
- The main-menu now has a snow theme
- New commands added to ‘Quick Chat’
- UI updates for different smartphone displays, including a ‘notched’ setting
The new update brings a refreshing change to the game, and is sure to be a hit among the users. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead, download the update and win ‘chicken dinners’ for yourself.
