We’ve all heard technology in cars getting updated every day, with almost every car in the market out there having airbags and other safety features. With cars getting better and safer, the riders out there didn’t seem too happy.
Well, here’s something to cheer them up.
Three students from IIT Roorkee have developed an inflatable helmet.
Inflatable helmet? What’s that?
An inflatable helmet in the simplest of words is a helmet with an airbag, which means rides on two-wheeler vehicles are now going to get safer than ever before.
You might wonder why such a helmet hadn’t been developed yet? Is it rocket-science?
Not exactly, but the inspiration for making this came from working on inflatable space structures at ISRO.
Sarang Nagwanshi, one of the three inventors, told Economic Times,
“We got the idea of inflatable helmet while we were working on inflatable space antenna at ISRO during our internship”
So let us now take a look at what exactly an inflatable helmet is and how it works –
