In the grim darkness of the world which is now depressing and absolutely up to no good, memes have become a source of catharsis. Some of the best memes of 2017 might just get inducted in the Legendary Meme Hall Of Fame (if there exists such a hall) so to brighten up your day, we thought we’d present these top quality memes from this year to you.
So without further ado, here’s our list of the top 8 best memes of 2017 so far (in no particular order, or maybe):
#1. Salt Bae:
Turkish chef Nusret Gökçe became a sensation for the “salt bae” memes, as one of his videos for preparing a steak and a rather stylish and flamboyant manner of sprinkling salt over it gave us a variety of memes starting from January 2017.
Needless to say, the internet was ruthless and memes about sprinkling “haha” reacts on your best friend’s pictures to sprinkling communism in the 21st century were rampant on the internet giving rise to some of the best memes of 2017.
#2. Cash Me Ousside How Bow Dah:
14 year old (I’m still doubtful about it) Danielle Bregoli became the “Cash Me Ousside” meme girl and sparked the internet with some of the dankest memes, thanks to her viral catchphrase:
“Cash me ousside! How bow dah?!”

The phrase basically translates to “Catch me outside. How about that?”. YEAH.
The apparent 14-year-old talks about her apparent “thug life” on the show “Dr. Phil” and has now monetized her fame, becoming a full-fledged rapper and internet celebrity who goes by the name Bhad Bhabie (I think she means Bad Barbie). May God bless her some brains.
#3. Pennywise The Clown From The Sewers:
“It”, the horror genre mini-series in the 1990s only recently broke the internet (thanks to its movie reboot) with some hilarious memes, giving us one of the best memes of 2017 so far in Pennywise The Dancing Clown.
In the meme, Pennywise tries to lure a kid into the sewers and needless to say, the internet didn’t hold back.
#4. He Protecc, He Attac:
One of the best sequential memes and one of the best memes of 2017, the “He Protecc, He Attac” template (basically saying “He Protects, He Attacks” and then rhyming the 3rd frame with the same) became an instant hit in India and overseas.
I’m not sure of this meme’s origin but its close association to the doggo slang indicates that someone who likes doggo memes might’ve inspired this.

#5. Mocking Spongebob:
One of my favorites this year was the mocking/condescending Sponge Bob, a meme which uses the Spongebob episode where he behaves like a chicken and elevates it to a whole new level.
The meme distorts the text said by a speaker and mocks it with different case letters and a ridiculous expression on Spongebob’s face to add to the sarcasm.
#6. Distracted Boyfriend:
The distracted boyfriend meme is something ordinary turned extraordinary.
A simple image of a guy who looks at another girl while hanging out with his girlfriend broke the internet, producing some of the best memes of 2017 and of all time.
#7. Roll Safe:
Thanks to KnowYourMeme, we found out that arguably the simplest yet one of the most hilarious memes of 2017, the Roll Safe meme is about actor Kayode Ewumi grinning and pointing to his temple while portraying the character Reece Simpson (a.k.a. “Roll Safe”) in the web series Hood Documentary.
The salty memes mocking first world problems which originated from this template set the internet on fire and the fire continues to grow, with Roll Safe being one of the most long-lasting memes on our list.
And now, my favorite in the list:
#8. Man’s Not Hot / The Ting Goes Skkkkrrrraaaa:
English comedian Michael Dapaah has broken the internet. No shit.
The man plays the role of a rapper called Big Shaq and raps a song called “Man’s Not Hot” (SO POPULAR THAT IT NOW HAS ITS OWN OFFICIAL VIDEO) in a thick accent but the thing that catches our attention the most is when he says:
“The ting goes skrrrahh, pap, pap, ka-ka-ka
Skidiki-pap-pap, and a pu-pu-pudrrrr-boom
Skya, du-du-ku-ku-dun-dun
Poom, poom, you dun know “– Big Shaq
WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT MEANS BUT IT IS SO DAMN CATCHY.
The meme is the best of 2017 and has a variety of ridiculous templates and it is surely here to say, owing to its uniqueness and the it’s-so-funny-that-it’s-good factor.
SKRRRR POP POP!
