Franchise TYG Shares His Passion for Music

230

Growing up in D.C. in the 90’s, rapper Franchise TYG experienced different cultures, environments, and music that helped shape his chart topping success today. The intricate rapper started rhyming at a young age, and hasn’t looked back since.  “I’ve always had a passion for music. I started recording at the age of 14 and participating in rap battles throughout the neighborhood. I was always listening to music as a kid, I could listen to it all day long”, says Franchise TYG. He was obsessed with listening to a wide array of genres obsessively.

Being exposed to a variety of artists from different genres, Franchise TYG took his rap career to the next level. His career began to take off but was met with some adversity when the rapper was arrested in 2019. Being in jail facing 10 years worth of charges, he began taking his life and music seriously.

Soon after being released, Franchise TYG dropped his first 7 song album entitled “No Substance”. His meaning behind this album was to joke around and make fun of a lot of mainstream music because he believes it has no substance. Listening to rock groups like Bad Religion inspired the lyricist to create this remarkable album.

The most popular song from the album, ‘Ice on Me’ and ‘Ice on Me (Remix)’, charted top 10 on the iTunes Music Chart. The ‘Ice on Me (Remix)’ features Rory Fresco, an American hip-hop artist who rose to fame by going viral on the music sharing platform, SoundCloud. “I first started charting in August thinking it was a one-time thing and was surprised that my songs have hit high on multiple charts, repeatedly”, says the rapper.

With his life experiences and being exposed to various artists and genres of music at an early age, Franchise TYG is becoming one of the hottest and most respected artists out of the D.C. area. Stay tuned for what is next from Franchise TYG.
