Indian Space Research Organisation, popularly known in its abbreviation as ISRO is the backbone of India’s space programme. It is the Indian space agency responsible for the country’s presence in space.

The indigenous space agency established during the 1920s has immensely developed India’s space programme along with aeronautical and space science as a subject of study in India.

Recently, ISRO launched the much-awaited Chandrayaan-2. Even though the organization and its scientists lost contact with Orbiter Vikram at the last moment, India became the only country in the world to mark its presence at the virgin lunar south pole, which is an achievement in itself.
