As per reports, 88% women are still using fabric, plastic, sand or dry leaves during their menstrual cycle.
This is not only unhygienic but even dangerous to the health of the women using these poor substitutes.
Sanitary napkins tax makes it difficult for rural women or those coming from low-income backgrounds to be able to buy something that they absolutely need for at least a week out of the month. And this goes on for about 40 or so years.
Such a prolonged and consistent use of a product should have automatically put it into the necessity category and the tax should have been removed.
