On Tuesday, certain areas of Old Delhi and the Bengali Market near Connaught Place saw a lot of hustle and bustle after former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi decided to drop by for an informal visit.
The Congress leader who’s been in news after being stripped of his Lok Sabha membership and being sentenced in a 2019 defamation case has been campaigning nonetheless for other Congress candidates for the upcoming Karnataka elections in May.
At the Bengali Market that is located near Connaught Place, Rahul Gandhi had gol gappe at Nathu sweets and the Bengali Sweet House. Throughout it all he was surrounded by bodyguards and other forms of security along with having his cars nearby even in the pretty heavily congested lanes.
At the Old Delhi, Gandhi visited the Chandni Chowk area where he visited various eateries and stalls sampling a number of different things offered there. He had a watermelon drink at the ‘Mohabbat ka Sharbat’ stall, tried the kebabs at the Al Jawahar Restaurant and other placed in the Matia Mahal area.

Kunal Vijaykar, a food writer and blogger was seen with Gandhi during his food excursion and was suppodely keeping the Congress leader company during his outing.
Gandhi interacted with the public and posted for photos with several people while out but eventually the crowd got too big and started to go out of control.
The crowd obviously kept following him from place to place and some even started to chant slogans and one liners for him creating ruckus in the streets.
As expected though, his presence ended up collecting an extremely large crowd that Gandhi ended up getting mobbed by the overwhelming numbers.
Not just that but further inconvience was caused by his security cars that were parked right in the middle of the road leading to traffic jam of half a kilometer for other cars and pedestrians.
